- Boost Your Home’s Value with a Well Cared For Gravel Driveway
When it comes to your home’s exterior, the driveway is often the first thing people notice. In Northeast Wisconsin, where rural properties are common, the driveway isn’t just functional, it’s a statement. A gravel driveway that is properly installed and maintained can increase your home’s perceived value by 5 to 8 percent, which for many homes in Oconto County and surrounding areas could mean an added $15,000 to $30,000 in perceived value, while also improving curb appeal, safety, and everyday functionality. Not all gravel driveways are created equal. The difference between a professionally installed and maintained driveway and a low-quality job is dramatic, both in performance and in impact on your home’s value. Key elements of a properly installed and maintained gravel driveway include a strong base for stability and proper drainage, properly crowned and graded driveways that are compacted well to provide a smooth, durable surface that reduces maintenance and prevents erosion, thoughtful design and layout for optimal width, slope, and access, and year-round upkeep, including grading, topping with gravel, and careful snow removal to maintain performance and appearance over time. A driveway that is neglected or poorly installed can negatively impact your home’s perceived value, making even an otherwise well-maintained house look unkempt. A properly installed and maintained gravel driveway isn’t just practical, it’s an investment. Industry experience suggests that a well-built driveway can boost perceived home value by 5 to 8 percent. For high-end homes in Oconto County and surrounding areas, which often range from $380,000 to $400,000, this translates to approximately $19,000 to $32,000 in added value. A well-cared-for driveway signals attention to detail and quality to potential buyers, increasing confidence and perceived value. A properly installed and maintained driveway does more than provide access, it adds significant value to your home. First impressions matter, and a neat, professionally maintained driveway immediately sets a positive tone for the entire property, showing care and attention to detail. Functionality is equally important, as proper grading and ongoing maintenance prevent erosion, rutting, and snow-related issues, ensuring safe and reliable access year-round. Durability is another major factor, as a correctly installed driveway can last decades with minimal upkeep, adding long-term value and reducing future repair costs. Beyond the physical benefits, a well-cared-for driveway also shapes perception. Buyers often associate a well-maintained driveway with a well-maintained home overall, increasing their confidence in the property and making them more likely to pay top dollar. At Basche LLC, we specialize in gravel driveways that are properly installed and maintained for long-term performance. Our comprehensive services include preparing a durable base for stability and proper drainage, properly crowning, grading, and compacting gravel for smooth and lasting travel, delivering and finishing gravel to create a clean, polished, professional look, and providing expert guidance for ongoing seasonal maintenance to protect your investment. - Winter Care Tips for Your Gravel Driveway
The temps are cold, winter is here, and snow is already on the ground but don’t forget about your gravel driveway. This time of year is actually the most important for protecting it. A little attention now can save you a lot of work when spring rolls around. One of the best things you can do is set your plow or snow blower higher. Leaving a thin 1–2 inch layer of snow on top acts as a protective cushion, keeping your gravel in place and preventing equipment from digging into the surface. Here are a few more simple winter tips to help your driveway hold up: Use sand for traction. It gives grip without melting the surface or loosening the gravel. Watch for soft spots during warm spells. Try not to drive through them so they don’t turn into deep ruts. Keep drainage paths clear. Make sure snow piles aren’t blocking areas where water needs to flow this helps prevent ice buildup. Take note of trouble areas. If you spot areas that need repair and/or fresh gravel, keeping track now makes spring maintenance quicker and easier. Taking the time to care for your gravel driveway through the winter will keep it in better shape year round. And when you’re ready for grading, fresh gravel, or repairs, Basche LLC is here to help.

Here’s a recent job we wrapped up for a customer looking to create a solid parking space for their trailers. To ensure long-term durability, we excavated the middle section deeper and brought in over 100 tons of breaker rock to stabilize the base. We topped it all off with a layer of 3/4” crushed gravel, carefully graded and compacted for a smooth, reliable finish. Now the customer has a clean, level, and sturdy gravel pad ready for trailer parking built to last. Need a custom gravel pad or site prep work done right? (920) 680-9778 www.baschellc.com

- Importance of Salting Parking Lots in North East Wisconsin: Ensuring Safety and Preventing Accidents
When winter weather hits, icy parking lots can become a serious hazard. Whether you’re a business owner or managing a commercial property in Northeast Wisconsin , salting your parking lot is a simple and effective way to prevent accidents and injuries. Here’s why salting is essential for your parking lot’s safety: Prevents Slippery Surfaces Salting your parking lot helps to melt ice and snow, reducing slippery spots that can lead to dangerous falls. Keeping your lot free from ice ensures a safer environment for both pedestrians and vehicles. Enhances Traction A salted parking lot provides better traction for cars and trucks, making it less likely that vehicles will skid or slide when parking or driving. This added traction improves the overall safety of your parking lot. Reduces Accidents By melting ice and snow, salting helps minimize the risk of slips and falls for pedestrians. Fewer accidents mean fewer injury claims and a safer space for customers, employees, and visitors alike. Improves Visibility Ice and snow can obscure parking lines and make it difficult to navigate your lot. Salting not only reduces ice but also helps to clear away snow, improving visibility and making your parking lot easier to use. Cost-Effective Safety Investing in regular salting can save you from the high costs of medical bills, insurance claims, and legal fees related to injuries on your property. Keeping your parking lot safe is a small expense that can protect you from much larger costs in the future. Fast Response During Winter Weather Salting acts quickly to prevent ice from forming, especially during or after a snowfall. A timely salting treatment can ensure that your parking lot stays safe throughout winter weather events. At Basche LLC , we are proud to serve businesses and properties throughout Northeast Wisconsin , providing reliable snow and ice management services, including salting, to ensure your parking lot is safe and accessible all winter long. Don’t wait for an accident to happen—contact Basche LLC for professional snow and ice solutions that keep your property safe, no matter the weather.
- The Best Gravel Driveway Maintenance Tips for Longevity
A gravel driveway is an affordable and durable option for your property, but like anything, it needs regular maintenance to keep it in top shape. At Basche LLC, we understand that proper gravel driveway care is essential for longevity, safety, and curb appeal. Here are the best tips for maintaining your gravel driveway: Regular Raking and Leveling: Over time, gravel can shift and develop low spots. Raking and leveling your driveway ensures a smooth, even surface and helps prevent water from pooling in low areas. This simple task will keep your driveway looking its best and functioning properly. Gravel Replenishment: Gravel naturally compacts and wears away. To keep your driveway strong and even, adding new gravel every few years helps maintain its stability. We recommend doing this before the surface becomes too uneven. Compaction: After adding fresh gravel, it's crucial to compact it properly. This ensures the gravel stays in place and reduces the risk of ruts and erosion. Proper compaction provides a solid foundation for years to come. Address Drainage Issues: Poor drainage is one of the biggest causes of driveway damage. Make sure your driveway has proper grading so water flows off the surface rather than pooling or running across it. This will prevent erosion and keep your driveway from deteriorating. Routine Inspections: Check your driveway regularly for signs of damage, such as large potholes or areas that are sinking. Early repairs can save you time and money in the long run by preventing bigger issues. By following these maintenance tips, your gravel driveway will stay functional, safe, and attractive for years to come. At Basche LLC, we provide expert gravel driveway services, from installation to maintenance, ensuring your driveway remains in excellent condition. Contact us today for all your gravel needs!
